Wrapping Up the 2018-2019 School Year. . .

TCE Families,

I have a few updates I wanted to share with you as we make our way to the end of the 2017-2018.

We are excited to share our new principal has been named for TCE!
Jennifer Martin

Here is a message from Ms. Martin:
Dear Town Center Elementary Families,

My name is Jennifer Martin, and I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Town Center Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected for this role at a school that already holds a very special place in my heart.

As an educator, I am passionate about identifying and meeting the needs of all learners by supporting and challenging them in their learning. After receiving my bachelor’s degree and Masters of Gifted Education from Hardin Simmons University, I began the first six years of my teaching career in Abilene ISD as a kindergarten and fourth grade educator. I then moved back to the Dallas area and was fortunate to join the TCE family for the next ten years as a fourth and fifth grade educator. Most recently, I have served the learners and families of Austin Elementary in Coppell for the past two years.

I look forward to beginning my new role at Town Center. I cannot wait to get to know all of the wonderful TCE learners and families and reconnect with familiar faces. Town Center has a strong history of innovative teaching and educators that are passionate about meeting the needs of every learner, and I look forward to continuing this tradition. My various experiences in Coppell ISD have shaped me as an educator and leader, and I am honored to be returning home to serve the wonderful learners, staff, and families of Town Center.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Martin

We have a few more changes at this time as we go into the summer for individuals I would like to celebrate.

Kelly Spears our counselor is going to be transitioning to a new role with Coppell ISD as a Crisis Counselor.  She will be at CHS9, but will also still be working with our elementary campuses throughout the year for social emotional needs.  We are excited for her to have this opportunity in her career and can't wait to see how she is able to continue supporting learners throughout the district!

Tina Berumen our library media specialist has been the team lead for the district and is going to be transitioning to give even more support this next year.  She will be housed out of New Tech, but will be working closely with all campuses across the district to support our libraries and library media specialists in future goals for our learners!  We are so please that she will be impacting even more learners throughout CISD!

Kasey Kemp one of our 5th grade educators is going to have a leadership opportunity in being one of the digital learning coaches for the district.  She will be transitioning to this role going into this summer and we are so happy for her to have this opportunity to help campuses within the district on goals for digital learning!

Lisa Hansen our ESL facilitator will be transitioning to Lakeside Elementary this next year as she continues to be a district support for our English Language Learners.  She has been a wonderful support to our campus and will be greatly missed, but we are excited for her to continue supporting learners throughout the district in this leadership role!

Candace Coffee our Gifted and Talented Specialist will be leaving this year, as her family has the opportunity to relocate to Farmersville.  This will allow her to be closer to family and while we are truly sad to lose her from our campus, we are happy for her to get this opportunity and know she will do amazing things for kids in another district!

Dianne Johnston one of our Special Education educators is going to be retiring this year.  She has been an amazing support to learners, educators and our staff this year and in past years at TCE.  She also has served many other campuses within the district during her years of teaching.  She will truly be missed!

Katie Tonemah one of our 2nd grade educators is having the opportunity to pursue her love for Special Education, as she will transition into the position of Special Education Educator at TCE this next year!  We are so excited for her to step into this intervention role and she is going to be amazing in supporting more of our learners K-5.

TCE Senior Graduation Party
We will be hosting a graduation party for all of our past TCE Texans who are in 12th grade and graduating from CHS or New Tech this year!  Please see the invite below and share with any families you may know with high school seniors!

Field Day
We will have a pirate filled day full of lots of fun this Friday, May 18th! We can't wait to enjoy the day in stations around the school and at the park/pool.
1.  Please make sure you have filled out the field day permission sheet.
2.  Also, if you are planning on volunteering, you will need to make sure you have the background check completed and then check in at the front office on Friday.

3.  Everyone is bringing sack lunches for field day, so please make sure you have one packed or have filled out the form to buy a sack lunch at school in our cafeteria.

5th Grade Talent Show
Our 5th graders will have their Talent Show on Thursday, May 24th and Friday, May 25th.  They perform for K-2 on the 1st day and then 3rd-5th on the 2nd.  Parents may attend either day!

TCE 5th Grade Graduation
Our 5th grade Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 29th at 1:00pm in the gym.  There will be a short reception following in the cafeteria.  Also, don't forget the Last Day Walk which will happen on May 31st at the end of the school day, 12:00pm if you want to get lined up and ready!

Last Day of School and
Final Spirit Rally
Our final spirit rally will be on Friday, May 31st at 8:30am.  We will have some fun songs/dances for our kiddos and our TCE staff will get to show off their skills as well!  Also, we will have Jennifer Martin, our new principal, at the rally to say hello to our TCE Texans! We will also work out a time in which our families will have the opportunity to meet and visit with Ms. Martin before the 2018-2019 school year starts!

Springtime at TCE!

TCE Cultural Celebration Evening
Wednesday, March 28th from 5:30-7:00pm

This week we will have our first ever cultural celebration night at TCE.   We want to celebrate all of the diversity within our campus and get the chance for our kiddos to learn more about each of the cultures and family traditions that make up our TCE family and the world.  We have several activities around the school including stations for kiddos, performers in the gym and a tasting of various foods in the cafeteria.

We still would love to have more food items brought in, so please add your name to the list link below for a traditional/favorite family dish that you could bring with you to the event!  You will just drop off your item in the cafeteria and it will be a part of our tasting experience!  (if you bring it in a platter or dish, we will get it back to you at the end of the evening, or feel free to bring it in a disposable container)

Click here to sign up for your traditional/favorite family dish!

Friday, March 30th - Weather Day
Please remember that we don't have school this Friday, March 30th as we did not have to use it for any inclement weather this year.  School will resume on Monday, April 1st.  Have a safe and happy three day weekend!

Parent Input on TCE Future Principal
Wednesday, April 4th - 5:30pm - Cafeteria
As you all know, I am currently in the process of transitioning to my new role as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Coppell ISD and will be fully transitioned by the end of this school year.  It is still hard to believe and I am going to miss TCE and all of our kiddos, staff and families so much!  I am truly blessed as I will be remaining in the district and will continue to get to have an impact on our campus and both present and future TCE Texans with my new role.

Therefore, I wanted to inform you of an important opportunity.  In addition to our regular PTO board meeting which is being rescheduled to Wednesday, April 4th at 5:30pm, you will have the opportunity to hear from the CISD Human Resources department as they will be discussing the process of hiring the new principal for Town Center.  They will be asking for feedback from our TCE families before the interview process begins.  This will be your opportunity to have a voice in the process, so make sure and attend the meeting if you would like to share any thoughts or feedback for the position!

STAAR Testing
Our first round of STAAR testing will be on April 10th and 11th.  Our 5th graders will be taking their Math and Reading assessments and our 4th graders will be taking their Writing test.  More info to come in a letter this week!  Please remember on testing days that no visitors are allowed to be in the school building as far as classrooms or cafeteria.  So, no (K-5) parents are allowed to come up to eat lunch with your child on these days or volunteer due to state requirements for testing security.  You may still drop off lunches or items in the front office as needed and our fabulous office ladies will get anything delivered.

TCE Hoedown
We are gearing up and getting ready for our favorite and biggest fundraiser for the year for TCE!  Our annual TCE Hoedown will be Friday, April 20th from 5:00-8:00pm.  We need everyone who can help volunteer in order to pull off this great event for our kiddos and the community.

Please see the info below to pre-order tickets and get ready to have a blast again this year!!  Also, we will be sending home a  paper copy this week with your child!

Kinder Registration and
Kinder Round-Up
If you have an incoming Kindergartener or know of a family who does for the 2018-2019 school year, please reach out to our front office to get registered and find out everything you need to know about coming to TCE.
TCE's Kinder Round-Up will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 5:30pm.  We ask that our families arrive at 5:00pm in order to get checked in and ready to go!

TCE Shout Outs for Volunteers, Staff and Community
We are continuing to find ways for our educators and parents to celebrate all of our parents, community members and staff who go the extra mile to help out with our classrooms, in the office, for events, etc. this year!

Remember, anyone can fill out a shout out!  We are wanting parents to give each other shout outs as well, since there are many times when you know there was an event and you appreciated the extra hands helping out! Here are recent shout outs that have been turned in from our link!
