Jumping On Into 2017. . .

I hope all of you have jumped right into 2017 and are having a great start to your year!  We have been nonstop at TCE with the new semester upon us!  I wanted to send a belated thank you from the front office for all the wonderful treats, gifts and holiday goodies from the winter holidays as well as with the start of the new year!

All of the TCE staff appreciates the tokens of appreciation we receive and truly feel the love from our families!  Thank you!

As we go through the next few weeks, we have some reminders, events and updates for you from TCE. . .

CISD Health Attendance Guidelines
For ultimate success in school, we know our learners need to be at school and in the classroom. There are times, however, a student must stay home. A child that is sick cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in a meaningful way. Keeping a sick child home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child opportunity to rest and recover. Please use the following guidelines when deciding if your child should attend school and there is a link to see more district guidelines below:

Fever   Although an elevated temperature is not in itself an illness, it is a good indicator the body is fighting an illness or infection. Combined with other symptoms such as sore throat, nausea, or rash, your child may have a contagious illness. Students with a temperature 100ยบ F or greater should stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of a fever suppressing medication (e.g. Tylenol, Motrin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen).

Vomiting or diarrhea more than once in 24 hours
Many viruses and bacteria cause disease that involve vomiting and diarrhea.  Students should be free of vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication.

Free and Reduced Lunch Forms
CISD periodically checks to ensure we are helping to support any families who would be in need of free or reduced lunch prices from our cafeteria.  We are sending a letter home this week with this information in case anyone is in need or could benefit from this resource.  Also, there is an online form you may fill out that is located on our campus website if you would like to do that instead of a paper copy.
Please check with the front office if you have any questions or additional concerns.

Kickoff to Jump Rope for Heart
We are about to kick off our annual campus service learning fundraiser to help support the American Heart Association.

In the past five years, we have raised over $100,000.00 to support the organization and funded special grants to help heart surgeries and research.

We are hoping to reach the goal of $20,000.00 this year! If we reach our goal. . .Mr. Shelby and I will be officially getting buckets of slime poured on us this year!  Last year, we missed our target. . .so got out of that one!  We'll see if we can make it to the target goal this year!  Info will be coming home with your child!
